Norway 2003, Part II - Nature

The second part of my very short and extremely biased photographic travelogue from the International Summer School, a great institution bringing together every year appr. 500 students from all arround the world to live, study, and interact in the friendly environment of the University of Oslo.

Sognefjord When my Slovak friend Juraj saw the pictures taken in Sognefjord, he asked me:
"Is it really sea under those mountains?"
Sognefjord

Glacier in Jotunheimen In addition to famous fjords, Norway offers some breathtaking scenery also inland. Two examples that I have chosen are a small glacier in the National Park Jotunheimen and a spectatular view from Stalheim. Norway is perfect for hiking. Stalheim

Weather in Jotunheimen A Norwegian saying:
"There is no bad weather. There are only bad clothes."
However, water is everywhere. In clouds, in lakes, and in amazing waterfalls.

Rabbits on Gressholmen Wild animals living near Oslo are not very shy. We enjoyed feeding rabbits on the "Rabbit Island" Gressholmen and walking in the forests of Nordmarka, where the birds are not afraid of people. Forest bird in Nordmarka

Arround Gjende At the end, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. A reindeer shepherd accompanying us said:
"The Lake Gjende is the heart of Norway."
